Network Rail / Borders Railway
The Borders Railway is the longest new domestic railway built in Britain for over a century and trains will start running again in September 2015 after a 46 year hiatus. In 2012, Network Rail became Authorised Undertakers for the project. Since then, we’ve worked with them to deliver an ongoing communications strategy to engage and inform local communities, partners, stakeholders, politicians and the media.
Central to this strategy was the creation of a single, strong brand identity for the project and bordersrailway.co.uk which is the central hub hosting information including monthly podcasts, closure notices, maps & plans and video content.
Getting everyone on board
The project commissioned two films to highlight important phases in the construction work. The first film, ‘Structures’, focused on the civil engineering aspect of the project by looking at the various types of structures along the route and the importance they play in re-establishing the new railway.
Since launch, the site has attracted over 230,000 unique visitors and the videos have attracted more than 34,000 views via the Borders Railway website and the Network Rail YouTube channel.
